Absolute Superman #6 Review
Spoiler Free Review
Another absolutely killer comic to add to the collection this week is Absolute Superman #6. This series has been so action packed from the beginning and just when you think it’s going to be a slow one, everything kicks off again. This comic has honestly outdone every Absolute Superman comic so far, every single thing about it gives me no choice but love it, so let’s talk about that in this Absolute Superman #6 review.
In Nerdy Nook fashion, this review will be spoiler free, but make sure you have read through the previous issues before continuing. You have been warned.
The Review

Absolute Superman #6 is the official conclusion of the comics first arc, however, this issue is set completely in the past showing us Kal-Els first day on Earth and the years that followed – it does not do too much to bring the story forward, but does provide a lot of important context to our hero. Think of this comic as Superman Year One.
When I first started reading this issue, I thought it would be obvious and too similar to what we’ve seen before – this was most certainly not the case. Absolute Superman #6 similar paid homage to Superman’s origins story but ultimately offered something so much more unique and complex. We do get to see Kal-El meet the Kents, a compassionate husband and wife who live on a quaint little farm in Kansas, but that is pretty much where the similarities end.
The first few pages were so hard to read. Not because they were bad, but because they were just so sad, it really was an experience seeing one of the most iconic heroes of all time just about to give up before we even began – though since Absolute Superman #6 was set in the past it was obvious this was not where our heroes story ends.
Something else super interesting was Kal-El’s lack of understanding the language when he landed. This is something that usually is not a problem since he would learn to talk as babies from Earth learn, this time however he is a teen and is already accustomed to life on Krypton. Though since he is so accustomed to Kryptonian ways, why does he have this affinity for Earth in the first place?

Absolute Superman #6 ended in such an unexpected way, and yet it just made so much sense given the name of the enemies. Without saying too much there has never been a more clear cut crossover amongst the Absolute comics, this really bridged the gap and broadened the entire Absolute universe, not just Absolute Superman.
Like the storyline, once again the artwork was flawless. The few moments in space feel completely out of this world, then when we land on earth in Kansas in the Kent family farm, it feels oddly familiar. Of course it was not as beautiful as the landscapes showcased on Krypton, but it was still stunning. Carmine Di Giandomenico and Ulises Arreola are such an incredible duo of talented artists, I cannot wait to see them do more together.
Lastly, I feel a shoutout to this talented writer is due. Jason Aaron is nothing short of a brilliant mind, Absolute Superman is such a perfect showcase of his talents – it is impossible now to even think of another name attached to this project. Though there have been moments throughout the series where things did not go in the way I would have expected, all together the first arc is incredible and so worth the read if you still have not read it.

Absolute Superman #6 is without a doubt, a flawless issue, a real unique Superman Year One experience, in a field of nostalgia. The first arc concluded in a satisfying and exciting way sure to make readers want me.
