Absolute Wonder Woman #3
Spoiler Free Review
The Absolute universe continues today with the new edition of Absolute Wonder Woman #3. The series so far for me has not been as incredible as the other Absolute titles – that is, of course, until today. A lot happens that really pushes this series forward, something that readers have needed, but lets talk about it all in this Absolute Wonder Woman #3 review.
In Nerdy Nook fashion, this review will be spoiler free, but make sure you have read through the previous issues before continuing.
The Review

After sending Harbinger Prime back to whence he came, Earth now faces a new terror, The Tetracide. After using her magic to slow it down, Diana leaves to research and hope that she finds a way to defeat The Tetracide as it is, once again, up to Wonder Woman to protect humanity from this foul monster.
Absolute Wonder Woman #3 starts in Gotham city with a group of people in a museum watching the news in fear, as The Tetracide emerges from the sea, focusing on a lady called Barbara. For new readers who might not know who exactly Barbara is, this seemed like a strange place to start but it made it feel like a more worldly problem and not just a problem for Gateway City. We do learn who she is and her involvement with the Absolute universe as the story progresses.
One thing I cannot help but hate – why are all of these creatures so disgusting? Harbinger Prime was ugly enough, but The Tetracide is a whole new level of ugly – seriously just look at this thing, if you can stomach it. Ugly does not mean evil, but putting my disgust aside, it really does solidify the point of Diana being Princess of the Underworld.

The biblical vibe the previous issues brought are still apparent in Absolute Wonder Woman #3, perhaps even more so in this issue, which is something I often find myself indifferent about. There was one point that felt like a line from a GCSE drama play that made me genuinely cringe, but aside from that it mostly feels natural and true to the character.
As always, the art style is beautiful aside from the ugly monsters that keep threatening earth. When Wonder Woman is researching The Tetracide, we see an old vase covered in drawings which tell us more about The Tetracide which look incredible – you can almost believe this is just in a museum.
Last issue, we saw the return of Steve Trevor – Absolute Wonder Woman #3 gave us the return of another iconic character. This series is pushing out throwbacks as quick as anything and, surprisingly, none of them feel forced. I just hope they do not rely on throwbacks in later issues to push the comic forward, as it should be set apart from comics we know and love.

Absolute Wonder Woman #3 is riddled with exceptional throwbacks to the Wonder Woman world, all of which lend a hand to a strong and gripping narrative. The art style, ugly as some creatures may be, provides a biblical aesthetic which is pleasing on the eyes and really drags you into the Absolute Wonder Woman universe. This is the best comic to release in the series so far.
