Avatar: Seven Havens
Everything We Know So Far
On February 20, 2025, Avatar fans were given a real treat – an official announcement of a new cartoon series from Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios. Avatar: Seven Havens is set to continue the events of the Four Nations into a future beyond the events of The Legend of Korra, a world graced by a new Avatar, and from early impressions, a world with a much different composition from what we saw in the previous series.
While details on Avatar: Seven Havens are pretty vague at the moment, there are some things we know for sure – and there are certainly some pretty strong theories going around about what exactly this show will explore based on the events of The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The Avatar franchise is incredibly strong, and we can’t wait to see what Seven Havens brings in the near future – today though, we’re looking ahead to the future, and listing some of our predictions, theories, and speculations on what awaits fans in a new age of Avatar. Spoilers ahead for both The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra – be warned!
An Earthbender Will Take the Title

This one is not so much a prediction, and just more so a fact – the next Avatar after Avatar Korra is set to be born an Earthbender, according to both the rules of the Avatar Cycle, and confirmation from Nickelodeon that Seven Havens will follow a young Earth Nation girl who discovers that she is the next Avatar. Nickelodeon’s announcement not only confirms that the show is a direct follow-up to The Legend of Korra, but also confirms that the Earth Nation Avatar will be a girl, which sets Seven Havens up to follow a protagonist in the same vein as Toph.
Should this series follow a character like Toph, it could be a real hit. Toph is one of the most beloved characters from the original series, and we know that subsequent Avatar series are not afraid to switch up their protagonists personality types – Avatar Aang and Avatar Korra could not be more fundamentally different in terms of their characterisation. Earthbending has always felt like one of the more underrated elements from the Avatar franchise, so we can’t wait to see it take centre stage in Seven Havens with, hopefully, a strong protagonist at the helm.
Connections to ‘Aang: The Last Airbender’

Avatar: Seven Havens is not the only project being cooked up over at Avatar Studios. A full-length animated movie titled Aang: The Last Airbender is in the works at Nickelodeon, and is set to be released in January 2026. The film will follow an adult Avatar Aang in an undisclosed adventure, featuring the vocal talents of Eric Nam, Jessica Matten, Dave Bautista, and many more. The film is also set to feature appearances from the classic Team Avatar – Katara, Sokka, and Toph. Zuko is also set to appear, voiced by Dante Basco.
While Avatar Aang’s death prefaced The Legend of Korra, and so it’s unlikely anything that happens in this movie will directly affect Seven Havens, we think it’s likely that Avatar Studios will take the opportunity to make some reference to the series in the movie – perhaps, in the pursuit of a creation of an extended universe of sorts, Avatar Studios will draw inspiration from Marvel and include some sort of post-credit scene to imply the onset of the events of Seven Havens. Regardless of whether this connection comes to fruition or not, it’s exciting to see more classic Avatar content on the way, featuring the team that started it all.
Avatar Korra Will Be the Sole Spirit Guide

Following the events of The Legend of Korra, the Avatar Cycle was broken, with Avatar Korra as the leader of a rebooted cycle. The destruction of the Avatar Cycle was, at the time, a controversial, outraging moment for many fans of the Avatar franchise. Despite her characterisation as a forward-thinking, headstrong Avatar who gave little attention to the notion of tradition or past connections, it was still devastating for many to see Avatar Korra’s severance of her connection to the former Avatars – even if it wasn’t totally her fault.
The severance of the Avatar Cycle is now at the forefront of many fans’ minds however, as with the arrival of a new Avatar in Seven Havens, it has dawned on fans that the new Earth Nation Avatar will have to contend with her role with Avatar Korra as her only Spirit Guide. In fact, the next Avatar may not even have this much – in one of the Chronicles of the Avatar books, Avatar Korra apologises that the next Avatar will not ‘have a connection with [Korra], with Aang, and with all the lives that you’ve lived before’. While the team at Avatar Studios may backtrack on this development to keep their options open, it does seem that, for now, the new Avatar will not be able to call on the past Avatars in the same way Avatar Aang and Avatar Korra were – an interesting plot point for sure, but undoubtedly a huge challenge for the next Avatar to face, especially when we consider the next thing we know about Seven Havens…
The Avatar Will Be Feared

Based on an official synopsis from Avatar Studios, Seven Havens will follow a young Earth Nation girl who discovers she is the Avatar – however, ‘in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior’. The synopsis also details that the new Avatar will be hunted by both human and spirit enemies, implying that there will be some sort of public resistance force to the existence of an Avatar, in whatever social world Seven Havens takes place in.
It’ll be fascinating to learn more about what leads the world to think of the Avatar as humanity’s destroyer – certainly, the Avatar State is an intimidating force of nature, and it’s not difficult to see why those who come into contact with it may think of it as a destructive power. However, the Avatar is often a figurehead of peace and harmony between the Four Nations, and this was implied as the status quo by the end of The Legend of Korra. Who knows what will throw off the world’s balance by the time Seven Havens takes place, but the public hatred of the Avatar is definitely a new frontier for the franchise, and one we can’t wait to see unfold.
Kyoshi Island Will Play a Big Role

For those familiar with The Last Airbender, you’ll remember that the last time the world saw an Earth Nation Avatar, it was Avatar Kyoshi, a towering woman who, by the time of her death, was the oldest living human in the series’ history. Her existence also spawned the creation of the Kyoshi Warriors, and Kyoshi Island, both of which played big roles in The Last Airbender series. With the next Avatar coming from the Earth Nation, Kyoshi will undoubtedly have a presence in Seven Havens.
Considering Avatar Korra severed the Avatar Cycle, it’s unlikely that the next Avatar will be able to speak directly with Kyoshi’s spirit. However, with Kyoshi being the last Earth Nation Avatar, it may be in the cards for the next Avatar to visit Kyoshi Island as a way of connecting with the history of the Avatar, without direct access to their spiritual guidance. The Kyoshi Warriors will hopefully make some sort of appearance too, perhaps even training our next Avatar to improve her skills in combat. It would be strange to see no mention of Kyoshi in Seven Havens – here’s hoping her impact on the story is not minimal.
Avatar Aang’s Grandchildren Will Make Appearances

Avatar: Seven Havens will, naturally, take place after Avatar Korra has passed away – however, the death of the Avatar themselves doesn’t mean that every character from the previous series will have passed away. Appearances from Katara, Toph, and Zuko in The Legend of Korra confirmed that though the Avatar may be gone, their friends and relatives live on, and could potentially make appearances in subsequent series. It’s unlikely that some of the older characters from The Legend of Korra will live to see the events of Seven Havens, but that doesn’t apply to Avatar Aang’s grandchildren, Ikki, Jinora, and Meelo.
In particular, it’s likely that Jinora may play a large role in the story of Seven Havens – becoming an Airbending master at only eleven years of age implies that Jinora’s future amongst the Air Nomads is bright, perhaps even becoming one of their leading figures by the time Seven Havens takes place. Ikki faded into the background a little in The Legend of Korra, but hopefully she makes an appearance in some capacity, and we’re sure Meelo will be drawn on to some extent when the series is in need of some comic relief. Unless something crazy goes down between The Legend of Korra and Seven Havens, we’re sure that the Airbending kids will make some sort of appearance in the series – we can’t wait to see where they are in the future.
Exploiting the Spirit World

The Legend of Korra drew on the idea of Avatar’s ‘Spirit World’ far more than The Last Airbender, and it’s likely that we’ll see this trend continue in Seven Havens, especially after Avatar Korra reopened the portals between the worlds, making travel between them much easier. We know that following the events of The Legend of Korra, though some humans learned to accept living alongside their spirit neighbours, some humans saw an opportunity to benefit themselves, as is always the way with humanity.
The exploitation could be a potentially very compelling plot point for Seven Havens. Perhaps humanity’s more transparent connection to the Spirit World will play into the new view of the Avatar as humanity’s destroyer. The Spirit World is a hugely complicated, incredible new plane of existence for humanity to experience – a difficult reaction to this world is only natural, and honestly, glossing over this plot point in Seven Havens would feel like a real oversight. Avatar Korra’s influence is likely to be felt more than ever when it comes to this side of things in the Avatar continuity – we can’t wait to see how it develops.
History May Repeat Itself

‘The Fire Nation attacked’ – a quote ingrained in the brain of any and all fans of The Last Airbender. The Avatar series has never been afraid to explore the political side of things, with the first series based entirely around the Fire Nation’s empirical desire for power, and their quest to conquer the other Nations. The Legend of Korra took place in much happier circumstances as far as the world order goes – the United Republic of Nations symbolized the fruits of Avatar Aang’s hard work, and a redemption of sorts for the Fire Nation. Now, however, especially with the newfound access to the Spirit World, the balance of the Nations could be at risk once again.
It’s unlikely we’ll see the Fire Nation presented as an antagonistic force yet again – this would be way too similar to the events of The Last Airbender, and would likely destroy any chances at the Nation’s reputation being restored. However, wouldn’t it be interesting to see the Water Nation at the helm of Seven Havens’ villainy? Perhaps a tyrannical ruler from one of the Nations could exploit the powers of the Spirit World, and seek out world domination? The details surrounding Seven Havens are so vague, that the options for any and all sorts of villains are open – only time will tell where the show will take us, but who knows? Perhaps we could see history repeat itself when it comes to the Four Nations, in a fashion all too eerily similar to real life.
Conclusion
The bar is set exceptionally high for Seven Havens – with such little information available, the floor is open for Avatar fans to throw out all sorts of wild theories and predictions. We can’t wait for the series to premiere, but in the meantime, at least we have Aang: The Last Airbender to look forward to this coming January. What are your predictions for Avatar: Seven Havens?
