Avengers: Doomsday Plot

Theories and Speculation

Avengers: Doomsday, the MCU’S’s next big thing, the thing that the countless amounts of TV shows and all the movies since end game have been leading to – well sort of. Of course plans for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty have been scrapped following the legal issues surrounding Kang’s actor, but since unveiling plans for Doomsday fans have perhaps been even more hyped. Just last week (at the time of writing this) Marvel did a livestream announcing some of the cast members in Doomsday, quite a lot of names were missing from the line-up, which has lead to quite some interesting theories on the Avengers: Doomsday Plot.

In this article we are going to be talking about all those theories and speculation – note that it is just speculations and theories based from comics, this is not a leaked plot and might be drastically different.

Doctor Doom will end Loki for good

Since Doomsday is clearly a multiverse movie it is likely Doctor Doom will end Loki in one way or another, whether that be death or banishment we are unsure. At the end of Loki season 2, Loki sacrifices himself and becomes the God of Stories and Guardian of the Multiverse – there is absolutely no way that Loki in his new life would allow Doom to just take control without a fight, so either way could be an interesting movie.

Doomsday will be a new civil war

Judging by the cast list there is a lot of heroes from all different dimensions and timelines, including X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Earth 616 (the main MCU timeline). Since all these heroes do not know each other it is quite possible that a war amongst the different groups will break out unsure of who is good. With that being said, Kelsey Grammer did reprise his role as Beast in a post credit scene in The Marvels which implies that the X-Men are in Earth 616, though they could be a well kept secret from the rest of the Avengers.

Fantastic Four however, are more than Likely from the same dimension as Doctor Doom. So even if the Avengers and X-Men team up, it’s possible they would be seen as a threat in Doomsday.

Spider-Man 4 will be Spideyverse movie

This might seem unrelated in this article, but rumours have spread that Spider-Man 4 will be set around the same time as Doomsday which means the events of Doomsday will likely impact Spider-Man and explains why Tom Holland has not been announced as part of the cast. Could this also explain where Doctor Strange is? Though Strange cast a spell so everyone forgets Spider-Man is Peter Parker, theoretically he could have excluded himself from that list.

Spider-Man is no stranger to the multiverse. It would make so much sense for the other Spideys to travel to Earth 616 and nab the MCU’s Peter Parker before Doctor Doom can, then return together just in time for Avengers: Secret Wars

Doctor Doom will steal Galactus’ power

Doom is a powerful and intelligent man, but in order to bring universes together he will need something more. We already know Galactus is in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, with Doctor Doom heavily rumoured, so it would make so much sense if Doom tried to save his earth and defeat Galactus by draining his power and ‘sacrificing’ himself.

That much uncontrollable power would surely lead a man to go insane and would add a much darker and saddened element to the Doomsday plot.

Tony Starks death is the reason for Doomsday

Our final and my favourite theory of the Doomsday plot, is the death of Tony Stark was the reason behind Doctor Doom’s evil plan. It is quite possible that Doctor Doom, using his resources, sees the events of Endgame through the TVA and in turn becomes obsessed with the death of Iron Man given their likeness and blames Earth 616 and the Avengers for his sad demise. Not only will Iron Man and Doom look alike in Doomsday (given they are both Robert Downey Jr.) but they are a similar character given their power, money and intelligence – and of course they both rock an iron mask.

The Russo brothers have confirmed that Tony Starks death will play a major part in Doomsday, backing up this theory, so I feel pretty confident with this one.

Conclusion

Avengers: Doomsday is undoubtedly going to be an incredible movie with a lot of complexity to it. The Russo Brothers have a hard job ahead of them, but if our theories are correct about the Doomsday plot, that and Secret War could be the best Marvel live action movies to date.
