The Best Feel-Good Anime To Watch This Summer

The Best Anime Series with a Feel-Good Vibe

Summer is the feel-good season of the year, so what better time is there to look at some of the most heartwarming, uplifting anime series to watch this season? Anime loves its dramatic, heartbreaking moments, and so, it can often feel difficult to find a show that thrives on feel-good vibes, and leaves its viewer with a smile on their face, rather than in a puddle of tears.

That’s why today, we’re looking at some of the most gratifying, feel-good anime that are guaranteed to leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. We’ll be covering anime of all sorts, from those explosively popular, action-heavy series, to light-hearted romance shows – shonen can be happy too! With that being said, let’s dive into the list, and look at some of the best feel-good anime series to watch right now!

Spy x Family

Feel-Good Anime - The Forgers

What better way to start our list than with the most popular, ongoing feel-good anime series that took the industry by storm back in 2022 with its debut. Spy x Family is the story of four unlikely characters, a spy named Loid, an assassin named Yor, a telepath named Anya, and a precognitive dog named Bond, who come together to form a makeshift family, the Forgers. Initially, the family is pulled together purely to serve each individual’s personal goals and missions, but quickly, they develop a deeper connection, and learn to lean on each other as a true family.

Spy x Family definitely leans into the drama sometimes, and can be an explosive thrill-ride when it wants to be. However, a huge chunk of the series is dedicated to the small moments that build the Forger family’s connections to each other, as well as the comedic hijinks that come as a result of each family member’s concealed identity. With two seasons and a movie behind us, and a third season arriving in late 2025, there’s no better time to jump into this series – as far as ongoing feel-good anime go, it is often considered the premium option.

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

Undoubtedly, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War is one of the funniest anime I’ve ever seen, if not one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen in general. The set-up, which involves two students, both too proud to confess their love to each other, pulling off all sorts of schemes to get the other to admit their affection is a genius set-up for a comedy series. Throw some incredibly chaotic and loveable side characters into the mix, and you get a masterclass in rom-com, one that manages to be tender when it needs to be, but more often than not, will leave you grinning ear-to-ear.

The writing behind Kaguya-sama: Love Is War is also very well-structured. Episodes are often segmented, as we watch our two main characters battle it out in Death Note-like mental warfare, the end goal being a confession of love from their opponent. As far as feel-good anime go, I cannot recommend Kaguya-sama: Love Is War enough – it’s a thrilling experience that will have you smiling the entire time, as well as keeping you on the edge of your seat.

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!

Up next, we have another incredible comedy series, albeit one that’s a lot less wholesome than either of our previous entries. KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! is a series that caught me entirely off-guard. What began as a mandatory watch for the sake of catching up on the show soon turned into one of my most enjoyable experiences as an anime fan. Sure, KonoSuba is not for everyone. It’s a very fanservice-heavy, dark-humoured, arguably-ecchi series, but its masterful use of satire in the face of the many tropes that anime fans have come to be familiar with over the years is like no other anime I’ve ever seen.

KonoSuba is an isekai series following Kazuma Satou, a, quite honestly, terrible person, who is transported to a fantasy world after his death. There, he meets an eccentric group of women who he teams up with to form an adventuring party. Though the humour may not be for everyone, and the fanservice can be a little much at times, even if it does feel like a parody of the trope, if you resonate with KonoSuba, you’ll be in for an incredible adventure filled with top-notch comedy, loveable characters, and all-round feel-good anime vibes. Not to mention, the show has a real sense of heart and friendship to it when it wants to, even if it doesn’t show that side of itself too often.

My Dress-Up Darling

It’s probably best to get the most risqué entries on our list out of the way together, so now let’s tackle My Dress-Up Darling, a show I debated putting on this list purely based on how over-the-top the fanservice in this anime can be. However, to the anime’s credit, it tells a very heartwarming story about accepting your interests as a unique part of your personality as opposed to being ashamed of them, as well as showcasing one of the most beloved romances between it’s two main characters, Wakana and Marin, in the ongoing anime scene.

My Dress-Up Darling tells the story of Wakana Gojo, a man ashamed of his interests in cosplay and dolls based on his gender. When his classmate, Marin Kitagawa, discovers his talents, she employs his help to design cosplay outfits for her to wear, which leads to a number of adventures, and a blossoming romance. As you can probably imagine, the cosplay-element of the story leads to plenty of fanservice when it comes to Marin, but if you can look past the overwhelming amount of suggestive scenes, My Dress-Up Darling is a show that always aims to put a smile on the viewers face, and its positive reception over the years has led to it being considered a feel-good anime essential.

Mob Psycho 100

You would be hard-pressed to find a shonen series with quite as much happiness behind it as Mob Psycho 100, a show that manages to blend an ever-present sense of joy with incredibly intense action sequences and battles with ghosts. Mob Psycho 100 can be a chaotic series – the author, One, is also responsible for creating One-Punch Man, another one of the most eccentric shonen series ever. However, beyond the chaos is a very heartfelt story about a young boy looking for simple happiness in his topsy-turvy life.

If you’re looking for a feel-good anime that’s good to chill out to, then I can’t recommend this one – Mob Psycho 100 will constantly keep you on your toes, and the action can get extremely intense at times. However, even though hardship and danger play roles in this story, the overwhelming essence of Mob Psycho 100 is one of joy, self-acceptance, and friendship. So, if you’re looking for a thrilling action series that’s guaranteed to leave you feeling uplifted by the time the curtain closes, then there’s no better series than Mob Psycho 100.

Haikyu!!

Sports anime is known for taking itself very seriously, so it’s rare one leaves you feeling completely uplifted as it progresses. However, though a few sports anime competed for a spot on this list (Blue Box and Free! were serious contenders here), we had to go with Haikyu!! as the ultimate example of a sports anime that makes you feel the electricity of competition, while also keeping its viewers grinning the entire time. Shoyo Hinata is the star of Haikyu!!, a show about a very short volleyball player who builds his own school’s volleyball club from the ground up after finding out he was the only member.

Across its lengthy runtime, Haikyu!! introduces a huge cast of incredibly likeable characters, while Hinata himself holds the show together as its heart, a ray of light amongst the crowd, and amongst the main character line-up in Shonen Jump. If you’re a fan of sports and competition, then this is certainly the feel-good anime for you – there are few sports anime that come close to capturing the true essence of competition as well as Haikyu!! does. However, even if sports isn’t your thing, you’ll likely come to love this cast enough to keep you watching, with a smile on your face the entire time.

A Place Further than the Universe

Don’t get me wrong – A Place Further than the Universe is certainly an uplifting, feel-good anime experience. However, as happy as a good chunk of the series is, it’s worth noting that this anime is also known to be a very emotionally cathartic experience, so be prepared! A Place Further than the Universe takes as much pride in making you smile as it does is making you cry. However, the short series is likely an experience you’ll never forget, especially if you’re someone who feels anxious about life passing you by.

A Place Further than the Universe follows the story of Mari Tamaki, a young girl who is too afraid to make the most out of her youth. One day, she meets another girl who plans to travel to Antarctica, where her mother disappeared when she was younger. Joining this girl, as well as a newfound group of fellow adventurers, Mari travels to Antarctica on a life-changing journey. For the most part, A Place Further than the Universe is one of the most feel-good anime series I can think of. However, be prepared – emotional whiplash awaits beyond this anime’s cutesy exterior.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

Earlier, I said that Kaguya-sama: Love Is War was one of the funniest anime series I had ever seen – well, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. joins that series in that club. From start to finish, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. is one of the most enjoyable anime experiences I have ever had, and is easily one of the most purely feel-good anime I can think of. Though the show occasionally leans into dark-humour, for the most part, this series is an entirely uplifting comedy series about a psychic high-school student and his incredibly eccentric friend group.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. also keeps the tone fairly light when it comes to its sense of humour – fanservice is extremely mild, if not completely non-existent, while any violence is kept incredibly comical and non-graphic. In this way, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. is the most transparently feel-good anime on our list, and as a result, is our top recommendation from this list. Each character has their own gag, and practically all of them land perfectly. A truly remarkable viewing experience for any anime fan, and a definite choice for our feel-good anime list.
