What to Play and Where to Play Them

If you are at all familiar with Twitch, you have probably at some point or another been introduced to Jackbox Party Packs. This series of fun, and sometimes competitive, party games, are not only a great way to play with your favourite streamers or your community, they are also super fun to play with friends and family in your free time too! But what game should you play? Well, Jackbox has a huge variety in their catalogue, from trivia to drawing games, which might seem overwhelming for some. That’s why in this article, we are going to be looking at only the best Jackbox games and which pack you need to host them whether you are a streamer wanting to host some games for your community or you are just looking to play something new with friends – Jackbox is for everyone!

Before we get started, let me just point out that you do not need to own any of these games to play them, only the person hosting the lobby will need to own the game then all participants join via jackbox.tv!

Bracketeering

First on the list is Jackboxes biggest game, Bracketeering. In this title, 16 players answer the prompts on their devices then go head to head in brackets and vote for their favourite answers. The sheer size of this one is why I added it to the list, you do not need to fill the lobby to play so don’t worry about inviting 16 friends over, but it is definitely more fun with a full lobby making it a great option for streamers of all sizes to play with their viewers.

Bracketeering is available on Jackbox Party Pack 4.

Trivia Murder party

If trivia is something that takes your fancy, then Jackbox has a few options for you. Trivia Murder Party 1 and Trivia Murder Party 2 are quite simple, you answer questions, then partake in interesting mini games if you get the answer wrong. If you die early on, do not worry since you can still when in the last multiple choice round.

Trivia Murder Party 1 is available on Jackbox Party Pack 3, although I would recommend Trivia Murder Party 2 on Jackbox Party Pack 6. The final round is a little more fair for people eliminated early in the sequel!

Mad Verse City

A true poet at heart? Then Mad Verse City is the game for you! In Mad Verse City you construct a rap using a word, then a sentence, then a word, then one last sentence, then go head to head in a rap battle and vote on your favourites – there is a rap for me button if you get stuck but word of warning, they kind of suck!

Mad Verse City is available on Jackbox Party Pack 5.

Quiplash

Next up, my favourite Jackbox game, Quiplash. Answer the prompts on your device, be witty, vote on your favourite, that’s it! I personally prefer Quiplash 2 but each has their own unique set of final rounds – 2 and 3 are the most popular ones amongst streamers and viewers though.

Quiplash XL is available on Jackbox Party Pack 2, Quiplash 2 is available on Jackbox Party Pack 4 and Quiplash 3 is available on Jackbox Party Pack 7. There are also a few standalone Quiplash titles, but you get much more for your money when you buy a Party Pack.

Drawful

Finally, a drawing game! Drawful is definitely a must-play jackbox game. The concept is very similar to Pictionary, however as well as guessing the correct answer for each drawing you even get the opportunity to write your own funny answer to throw other players off. Be careful when streaming the first Drawful game, as this earlier title does lack the moderation added in later Party Packs so be ready to cover your screen and remind viewers to keep things Twitch friendly.

Drawful is available on The Jackbox Party Pack, I would recommend you buy Drawful 2 as a stand alone game if you plan to stream it since it is adds moderation options like requiring Twitch login and most recently added is a code for moderators to sensor prompts – do not share that code with anyone other than moderators of your stream.

TKO

Another great drawing game is TKO. In TKO players will draw designs and logos to go on shirts then choose from a selection of other players’ submissions to design their own hilarious clothing. What’s more is you can actually buy physical versions of this clothing making it not only a great game to play with friends or viewers, but also for some entertainment at special events like birthday parties or stag do’s!

TKO is available on Jackbox Party Pack 3 and TKO 2 is available on Jackbox Party Pack 10.

Survive the Internet

Survive the Internet is probably the most unique game in this list. Players answer a prompt about themselves which another player will add to to make the creator look really silly. This game is great to play on Twitch, but much better to play with the people you know best since you can easily roast them with some inside jokes you have amongst yourselves!

Survive the Internet is available on Jackbox Party Pack 4.

Dodo Re Mi

Another music game, this time Friday Night Funking meets Guitar Hero in Dodo Re Mi. In this game, players select songs and instruments to play then listen back to their performance and get ranked on how they did! Dodo is a team game at its heart and even has additional unlockable songs to work for – this is the first Jackbox game to do this but I would love to see more adopt this feature.

Dodo Re Mi is available on Jackbox Party Pack 10.

Blather Round

Another take on a classic party game, Blather Round. Blather Round is basically a take on the charades, but with only words. The only problem streamers may have with this game is its lobby size, only 6 people can join unfortunately – although some rounds can take a while so more people would probably make this game drag.

Blather Round is available on Jackbox Party Pack 7.

Fibbage

Fibbage is at its core a trivia game full of obscure facts, but in this players also submit lies to throw off other players from getting the truth. There is also a really fun game mode called Enough About You where players must answer prompts on their device about others, then submit lies to once again throw off other players from getting the truth. Like Survive the Internet, this mode is especially good to play with friends and family!

Fibbage XL is available on The Jackbox Party Pack, Fibbage 2 is available on Jackbox Party Pack 2, Fibbage 3 is available on Jackbox Party Pack 4 and Fibbage 4 is available on Jackbox Party Pack 9. Fibbage Enough About You is only a game mode on 3 and 4, so make sure you pick one of those if that’s what you want to play.

Roomerang

My other favourite game in this list, Roomerang. In the title, players must role play and answer prompts then vote to eliminate players (but not really). Up to 9 people can join the lobby and that will not add too much time to the game since Roomerang rounds are very fast paced.

Roomerang is available on Jackbox Party Pack 9.

Timejinx

Another must-play trivia game is Time Jinx. Time Jinx is not like other trivia though, instead of answering random questions you will be asked to guess the year of different things then gain more points based on how close you are. A feature I personally love about this game (since I mostly suck at trivia) is that if you are doing badly, in the final round you will be given hints ‘the year ends in a 0’ which can be really helpful sometimes.

Time Jinx is available on Jackbox Party Pack 10.
