Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary

The Top 10 Highlights

It’s pretty wild to think about just how long Dead By Daylight has been around. I remember first playing this game back in 2016, shortly after the release of the game’s first ever licensed collab with Halloween, and now, looking back on everything that the game has achieved over this past decade feels almost unbelievable. Dead By Daylight has become a horror Hall of Fame, and though the game certainly has issues, it’s looking like it has a bright future ahead of it.

The Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary celebration was filled to the brim with incredible announcements, exciting reveals, and very ambitious promises for the game’s future. So much was announced, in fact, that we couldn’t possibly talk about all of it, so be sure to check out the full livestream here for all of the details. For those of you looking for a quick recap, we’ve got you covered! Today, we’re ranking the 10 best announcements shared during the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary livestream. Without further ado, let’s kick things off with our tenth entry!

10. Miss Behaviour

Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary - Miss Behaviour

It should be remembered that there were far more than 10 announcements shared during the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary celebration, so this is far from my least favourite. However, it certainly feels like this was the announcement least enjoyed by the crowd in attendance, as the awkward silence that loomed over the audience in the aftermath of this reveal was suffocating. Personally, I like the idea of Miss Behaviour, a publishing label that Behaviour Interactive will be publishing all of their indie titles under. Sure, at an event celebrating Dead By Daylight, fans were rightfully a little confused by this reveal, but it still marks an exciting new frontier for the team.

I’m also on-board with Behaviour’s idea to separate their indie titles from their main work. Alongside the announcement of the publisher itself, we got an exclusive look at three upcoming indie titles that the team are currently working on. Terrible Lizards, Don’t Fret, and Mr. Magpie’s Harmless Card Game all look fun in their own way, and while I felt quite bad for Nathan Sellyn, who was hyperaware of the fact that people may not be enjoying this announcement, I see this as an exciting new adventure for the team behind Dead By Daylight. A little out of place in this celebration, sure, but a fun announcement all the same.

9. The ‘Dead By Daylight’ Movie

We’re big fans of movies here at Nerdy Nook, and in particular, I myself am a huge fan of horror movies, so I’m very intrigued by the concept of a Dead By Daylight movie. The movie was announced to be in the works quite a while ago, but during the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary livestream, we got a bunch of new information regarding the film’s production, and I have to say – this segment was disastrous.

This announcement earns a spot on this list because, despite the shenanigans, I’m still excited to see this film come to fruition. However, the nature of this ‘reveal’ during the event itself was strange to say the least. First, a clip was shown, a clip I assumed was from the upcoming movie itself. It was then revealed that we had just watched a clip from The Damned, a film directed by Thordur Palsson, who was subsequently announced as the director of the Dead By Daylight movie. The Damned is Palsson’s only other foray into film directing, and considering it has less than glowing reviews, I’m a little worried. Then, the whole segment was made marginally worse when it was announced that shooting is to begin on the movie in 2027. So, yes, the actual content of this announcement was pretty rough, but I’m still excited to see Dead By Daylight hit the big screen, whenever that may be.

8. ‘The Casting of Frank Stone’ Chapter

Fans have been waiting forever for an announcement on the future of Frank Stone in Dead By Daylight. For those curious about what this is, The Casting of Frank Stone was a narrative game released by Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn, which took place in the Dead By Daylight universe. Without spoiling the story itself, it’s made clear that the intention was always to release Frank Stone himself as a killer in Dead By Daylight, and yet, after the game was released back in 2024, it was radio silence from Behaviour.

Personally, I think their silence was thanks to the less than warm reception that The Casting of Frank Stone received. The game is pretty bad, easily one of Supermassive Games’ weakest outings, and Frank Stone himself was seen by many as a basic antagonist that fans could have done without seeing in Dead By Daylight anytime soon. However, there was a vocal group of Dead By Daylight fans who demanded to see this clearly planned crossover come to fruition, and good news for them! The Casting of Frank Stone is officially arriving in Dead By Daylight in 2027 as a chapter. Exciting times! I’d be more excited if the game itself was any good, but regardless, it’s nice to see the clearly intended purpose behind this project coming full circle.

7. Chorus of Sin

I love what Behaviour did when it comes to the ‘Chorus of Sin’ chapter. For the first time in Dead By Daylight history, control over the direction of an upcoming chapter was given to the fanbase, as players voted on every little detail of this release, from its name, to its survivor, to its killer. Now, during the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary stream, we officially have a release window for the ‘Chorus of Sin’ chapter, and it’s sooner than I expected! The new chapter is set to arrive in August 2026, only a couple of months from now!

The fact that this announcement isn’t placing higher on our list is thanks to two factors. Firstly, because the fanbase has been so involved in the creation of this chapter, there’s no real surprise here, at least outside of how soon we’re getting our hands on it. Secondly, I personally voted during every stage of this experiment, and lost at practically every turn. Some day, I’ll get that giant head killer, I’m sure of it. For now though, the ‘Chorus of Sin’ chapter is looking pretty cool, and I hope the whole release goes well for Behaviour, so we get something like this again down the line!

6. Sandbox Modding

Now this was an announcement that I never could have anticipated. Dead By Daylight has an extremely strict anti-cheat system in place, so I had always thought that the idea of modding was removed from the conversation surrounding this game. Yet somehow, during the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary stream, it was announced that as part of the major updates coming to the game in 2027, sandbox modding would be introduced to Dead By Daylight, allowing players to create their own levels, game modes, and more.

Behaviour seem to be messing around with their new systems themselves, as this sandbox modding announcement came with the reveal of two new official game modes also set to release over the next couple of years. Firstly, a 1v1 mode, where one survivor must last as long as they can against the killer. Secondly, a prototype for a zombie-based mode was shown, and while it’s in the very early stages of development, I can already see fans loving this when it drops. This whole announcement was truly groundbreaking, one of the few announcements of the night that completely reshapes the game we know today. I’m very excited to see these updates come to fruition over the next while.

5. Scooby-Doo, Silent Hill, The Walking Dead, and Diablo IV

Behaviour themselves were pretty upfront during the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary event about how certain collaborations are impossible to implement as full-on chapters, so instead, are pursued as skin collection releases. We’ve seen releases like this before, with Attack on Titan, Naughty Bear, and Crypt TV, but there’s plenty of very exciting skin releases that were announced during the 10th Anniversary event, the most surprising of which is easily Scooby-Doo!

The list of skins coming to the game is extensive, but the highlights announced during this event are as follows – Shimizu Hinako from Silent Hill f, The Nurse from Silent Hill 2, Lilith from Diablo IV, Negan and Glenn from The Walking Dead, and a to-be revealed Scooby-Doo! collection. I’m very happy about the Silent Hill skins, as Hinako herself is a perfect fit for this game, and it’s exciting to see Negan coming to the game, even if players were hoping to see him arrive as a killer himself. As for the Scooby-Doo! collection, I can’t believe this is actually coming to the game, but I’m relieved that it’s only arriving as a skin collection. I can’t imagine maiming the actual Shaggy or Daphne, but Meg in a purple dress? That, I can deal with.

4. The Life Road

Original characters are the lifeblood of Dead By Daylight. So, as exciting as it is to hear about all of the upcoming collaborations and franchise crossovers coming to the game, it’s also important to make time for the original characters worked on by Behaviour coming to the game. The Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary stream introduced its new original survivor early-on, and what an announcement it was!

In just a couple of weeks, on June 25, Shane Wiigwaas is arriving to Dead By Daylight, sort of hand-in-hand with the release of Jason Voorhees to the game. Notably, this is the game’s first ever Indigenous survivor, which goes hand-in-hand with Behaviour’s push to represent all of their players in some capacity. ‘The Life Road’ looks like a great release for the game, even down to the paragraph’s key art, pictured above. It can feel overwhelming with how many survivors are in the game these days, so it’s always great to see new representation in the fog. Hope to see many Shane mains out there in a few weeks!

3. The Mall

Dead By Daylight release a lot of new content. Killer and survivor releases are frequent, so no one can fault Behaviour’s work ethic in that sense. However, I’ve felt for quite a while now that maps have felt a little neglected in the grand scheme of things. When maps are released alongside new characters, they’re often half-baked, either underwhelming new environments, or simple alterations of already existing environments. So, it was incredible news to hear that a brand new map environment is coming to Dead By Daylight, and it’s coming soon.

The new environment to be introduced to the game is one that fans have been asking for for a long time – a mall. It’s quite a big coincidence that this reveal is coming right on the heels of the success of Backrooms, but what better time to introduce this map? Behaviour stated that they wanted to craft an environment that spoke to fans’ desires for a liminal-space map, as well as a mall specifically. From the concept art showcased during the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary event, this map is looking very strong, and I can’t wait to see more from this new environment soon.

2. Terrifier

Ever since the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary event was teased during Summer Game Fest, all signs were pointing to a clown of some sort arriving in Dead By Daylight in the near future. A lot of people were banking on Pennywise, but over the past few days, whispers of Art the Clown’s arrival in the fog grew louder and louder, and now, we have confirmation of his coming. The Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary concluded with Eric Pope disappearing from the audience, seemingly slaughtered by Art, who then hijacked the stream and announced his arrival in Dead By Daylight this coming November.

This is a controversial announcement, which is unsurprising. After all, Terrifier is a controversial series. However, even though I would have loved to see Pennywise come to Dead By Daylight, it’s been made very clear over the past few years that the team behind Terrifier are enthusiastic about collaborating with Behaviour, so there’s an overall good feeling behind this announcement. Like him or not, Art is also a perfect fit with the world of Dead By Daylight, so his arrival was guaranteed sooner or later. Here’s hoping Terrifier is granted a full chapter in November, and we get to see Sienna enter the fog alongside Art. Either way, we’re in for a grisly time this November!

1. Graphics Overhaul

Personally, this was my favourite announcement of the entire night. Firstly, Behaviour have shunned any idea of a Dead By Daylight 2, which is a real relief. I can’t imagine restarting from scratch in a sequel, losing all of the time and money that has been put into this game over the years. However, Behaviour don’t plan to let the game stagnate. A full overhaul of Dead By Daylight was announced during the anniversary stream, introducing an entire new set of graphics, dynamic weather, and map reworks.

This is, in essence, everything fans could want from a Dead By Daylight 2, but without resetting anyone’s progress, or removing any content that has already come to the game, which is really a best-case scenario when it comes to the evolution of the game. I’m thinking of this as a Dead By Daylight remake in some ways, but in the form of a free update coming to the game down the line. It was made very clear during the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary that this update is over a year away, but that doesn’t stop the hype! I’m extremely excited for this, as new life is breathed into Dead By Daylight a decade into its lifespan.

Conclusion

So, that was our Top 10 announcements from the Dead By Daylight 10th Anniversary event! What did you think of our ranking? Did we leave out anything you’re excited for? Personally, I think that the future of Dead By Daylight is looking bright, but what do you think? Be sure to let us know, and thanks for reading!
