Today is a big day for comic book fans, not only does it mark the release of Invincible season 4, but the next chapter of Battle Beasts story begins we Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #7. Battle Beast is a series which, as the title might suggest, is very rich in action and epic battles, but this issue shows a side of Battle Beast we do not often see. a weakened, more vulnerable side, but lets talk about that in our Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #7 review.
This review will be spoiler-free, however, we do recommend you read the previous issue before continuing.

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast is set between Invincible #19 and #55 filling in the lost period between where we first meet Battle Beast and when he is freed from the Viltrumite prison by Allen the Alien and Omniman. Issue #6 ended with Thragg making his grand entrance, instructing his goons to find Conquest.
Firstly, the timing of this issue is completely perfect as it flows into the current season of the Invincible series storyline. There has honestly never been a better time to experience these comics. While they are slightly different to the show, the changes are not big enough to affect the flow of the story making it a seamless experience.
Battle Beast is a character that some might describe as lacking in depth, his literal only goal is to find someone strong enough to defeat him in a battle to the death, but that is kind of the point of Battle Beast. He is a warrior, with only one motive, why do you need more depth than that? This issue however surprised me. It was not the most action packed issue in the series yet, in fact it was probably the slowest, but that is where this issue shined. Seeing Battle Beast more vulnerable matched the shocking energy of when Conquest told mark he’s ‘so lonely’.
I did of course expect more gore as we see in usual issues, but this little breath of fresh air was much needed not just for Battle Beast but for us readers. Issues #1 to #6 are some of the most intense, action packed issues in this universe, it would have lost the gimmick very quickly if we did not have a break, but rest assured something big is coming in this second arc. We still have yet to find out how the Viltrumites captured Battle Beast and that itself will be a bloodbath.

Robert Kirkman is really keeping the Invincible Universe alive with this latest issue. Though the destiny of Battle Beast is pretty much decided, this series really expands on such a simple yet extremely complex character we should all hate but really cannot help but love. Usually I’m not big on prequel (if that’s what we’re calling it) spin-offs, but there really is something special about Battle Beast that has me obsessed.
Fans will be pleased to know Ryan Ottley, the original invincible artist, continues to bring the Invincible universe alive with his stunning, sometimes too gruesome, artwork. It is truly hard to imagine anything related to Invincible without Ryan Ottley and I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say I am so glad to see this dream team together again.
I honestly cannot sell this comic enough. Do yourself a favour and pick up a copy today! You can even get the previous issues combined in a graphic novel format to catch up. What’s your excuse now?

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #7 is a true return to form, a worthy addition to the Invincible universe. Though his fate is already decided, Robert Kirkman has shown us that there are still more stories to be told around this relentless warrior as he chases his own demise.
What are your thoughts on this new arc so far? What other heroes would you like to see get their own spin-off series?? Whatever your thoughts and feelings, share them with us in the comment section or on our Instagram page. Until next time, thanks for reading!
