Star Wars: Outlaws

Ubisoft Forward kicked off with a massive gameplay showcase for their upcoming first-ever open-world Star Wars game Star Wars: Outlaws. The showcase expanded on the game’s premise, that being the tracking down of expert criminals in the Star Wars universe to learn their abilities. We were treated to a demonstration of the game’s immersive open-world, its in-depth exploration features, and its combat mechanics – including shoot-em-up mayhem, stealth gameplay with your trusty critter companion, and of course, ship piloting in the depths of the galaxy. The game is set to release on August 30 2024, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
XDefiant
We then got a look into the upcoming first season of free-to-play shooter, XDefiant. This season, going live on July 2 2024, adds a new faction, new weapons, new maps, a new capture the flag mode, as well as ranked progression – plenty of new content all round! The game is currently available for the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
Skull and Bones

Ubisoft then took to the seas to show off some new content on its way to Skull and Bones! Season 2, Chorus of Havoc, is currently available, with new ships, sea monsters, and more – but if that’s not enough, we also got a look at what’s coming in Season 3 of the game, The Dragon’s Claw, all of which includes a new 5v5 PvP mode! Skull and Bones released in February 2024, and is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Prince of Persia

Fans of the Prince of Persia franchise were then treated to an almost overwhelming amount of news – we’ve got updates from three games to discuss! A new DLC was announced for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, titled Mask of Darkness – this expansion, expected to release in September 2024, promises plenty of content, but fans can also jump into the new Divine Trials update, which added more challenges to the game. We then got a new look at The Rogue Prince of Persia, an early access game currently available on PC – a new update was announced, which added a whole new biome. With a targeted launch in 2025, fans of the early access title will have plenty of new content to tide them over until then. Finally, Ubisoft teased a 2026 remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The teaser was brief, but fans can expect the classic to be completely rebuilt, and made accessible to a whole new generation of gamers – exciting news indeed!
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
The spotlight then focused on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which announced its first story DLC, titled The Sky Breaker. As well as adding story content, the trailer also teased a whole new undiscovered area expansion, confirming plenty of new content for fans of the base game. The DLC will also include the introduction of new enemies, and timed challenges, for gamers looking to test their skills. The Sky Breaker will be available on July 16 2024 – be sure to check it out!
The Crew: Motorfest

Fans of the racing game series The Crew will be glad to hear that as the game enters its second year in November, the game’s Season 5 update will be bringing a whole new island to explore – Maui, an island paradise. But that’s not all, as this season will also introduce a new PvE experience titled The Chase Squad – a game mode where you’ll team up with recognizable The Crew characters to take on rival drivers. The Crew: Motorfest is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, for fans looking to dive into the action before Season 5 arrives this November!
Anno 117: Pax Romana
We then got treated to the announcement of Anno 117: Pax Romana – the much beloved Anno city-builder series is headed to Ancient Rome next year! We don’t have any access to gameplay screenshots or footage, as the trailer was purely cinematic, but fans of the franchise will be surely excited to dive back into an Anno game for the first time since 2017. Anno 117: Pax Romana is expected to launch in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows

And now for the final showcase, not only of Ubisoft Forward, but of Summer Game Fest in general – a look at gameplay for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. Important to note is the fact that you can, in fact, pet dogs in this game – we’re off to a strong start. The main thing to note during this gameplay showcase was the major difference in gameplay between the game’s two protagonists. As samurai Yasuke, you’ll charge head-first through enemies, clobbering them with your mace. On the other hand, playing as Naoe, players will adopt a much stealthier approach, quietly assassinating your foes. We can’t wait to get more information on this title’s story, but for now, this gameplay showcase was a nice way to round off a thrilling weekend of gaming. Assassin’s Creed: Shadows launches in November 2024 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Conclusion
And that was all for Ubisoft Forward! Certainly the least content-dense of the recent showcases during Summer Game Fest, but we did get a great look at the gameplay for some much-anticipated upcoming titles, as well as some exciting announcements for new titles! We hoped you’ve enjoyed our coverage of this event, and though Summer Game Fest has ended, the everlasting wave of gaming news never comes to a close! Be sure to keep an eye out for future gaming news, and happy gaming!
