The Biggest Announcements from Xbox Showcase 2025

Summer Game Fest Day 3

Day 3 of Summer Game Fest kicked off with one of our favourite events, the Xbox Showcase. This year was not as notable as previous years, but with that being said, there were definitely some hard hitters – enough to warrant it’s own article. Summer Game Fest has been a surprising one this year, throughout the whole weekend there has been a good amount of big announcements, but nothing quite as big as some of the titles in this showcase.

In this article we are going to be talking about the biggest announcements from the Xbox Showcase; the DLC’s, the sequels, the new additions and lastly the BIG news from Xbox. If you missed the event, this is undoubtedly the best place to get your recap!

High on life 2

The Xbox Showcase started off on a massive high with this one. Fans of High on Life will be pleased to know, the quirky comedy shooter is back with a new addition, High on Life 2. Due to the allegations against Justin Roiland that surfaced in recent years, it is unlikely he will return to the franchise which might be disappointing for some fans, but High on Life 2 looks just as fun as the first one, if not even better.

High on Life 2 will be released this winter and will be added to Game Pass on day one.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

The Plague Tale series is also back with another title in its catalogue, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy . This time the franchise takes a trip back in time 15 years before the first title, and features a gladiator(?) – it might not make sense right now but I am sure, purely based of its exceptional trailer, that it will be incredible.

We currently do not have an official release date, but Resonance is set to release at some point in 2026.

Aphelion

As a big fan of Life is Strange, its always a pleasure to see Dontnod’s name at these events, and I am even more pleased to say the trailer for their next title Aphelion looks incredible. Though Dontnod’s last title Lost Records fell kind of flat for me, this one looks like a completely unique adventure from anything else they have done. We can all surely expect a sensational story, but gameplay seems like it leans more into the action genre than an interactive story.

Aphelion will be releasing in 2026 and will be added to Game Pass on day one.

Fallout 76 – Gone Fission DLC

Now this one was a strange one, Fallout finally dives into the world of cosy sims in their new DLC. Needless to say, the Gone Fission DLC is not for everyone, but if you are a fan of games like My Time at Portia or Disney Dreamlight Valley you can now enjoy the same cosy vibe, fishing and farming included, within the dystopian world of Fallout.

Fallout 76 Gone Fission is out now and comes included with Game Pass.

Persona 4 Revival

Though its not a sequel, Persona fans will be pleased to know Persona 4 is getting remastered. Persona 4 Revival is the same beloved game, with significantly improved graphics – it took us a minute to realise what it was, that’s how good it looks. This was not huge news since news had already leaked about the remaster, but it was great to get a good look and an official release date.

No release date has been announced just yet, but we would estimate around late 2026 or early 2027 you can expect to pick up Persona 4 Revival.

Invincible VS

Sometime ago, Skybound promised us they have been working on an incredible game in the Invincible universe, they did not disappoint. Invincible VS is a fighting game 2026 comparable to other fighting classics like Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat in looks but seemingly focuses on 3v3 tag fighting. Hopefully there will still be an option for 1v1’s but only time will tell – either way we cannot wait to get our hands on a copy.

Invincible VS will be released a some point in 2026 and will be added to Game Pass day one.

Call of Duty Black Ops 7

The last game on the list seems relevant, but this was not a surprise, it has perhaps become more of an annual occasion more than anything, but the new Call of Duty was announced. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 does look different though, and the story actually looks actually compelling for once – I think this is the first time I have actually been interested in playing a Call of Duty story since Black Ops 2, fingers crossed for you Activision.

Though we have no release date yet, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will likely be released towards the end of 2025.

Xbox Ally

Finally, arguably the biggest announcement from the Xbox Showcase, the next Xbox console… sort of! After years of wanting and waiting, Xbox have finally announced their first dive into the world of handhelds, the ROG Xbox Ally. With a huge library built from Xbox Game Pass play anywhere titles and connectivity to Steam, this handheld will surely be the go to companion for a lot of gamers.

Though there is no official release date just yet for the Xbox Ally, you can expect to see it in stores this holiday season. Hopefully, this one will not break the bank (looking at you Switch 2).

Conclusion

The Xbox Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025 gave us some exciting new looks at what the next year has in store for us, solidifying 2026 as a great year for gaming.
