Absolute Superman #7 Review
Spoiler Free Review
Our favourite part of the week is here, the Absolute universe continues today with Absolute Superman #7. This week is the start of the new arc, or at least its prologue, with a focus on a part of the Brianiac collective. This issue has a lot to offer and changes the course of the series in ways you would never have expected, but let’s talk about that in this Absolute Superman #7 review.
In Nerdy Nook fashion, this review will be spoiler free, but make sure you have read through the previous issues before continuing. You have been warned.
The Review

Last issue concluded the first arc with a nail bitter… now we know the man behind everything is none other than Ra’s Al Ghul. In Absolute Superman #7 we get a little more context about that and follow the story of a Brianiac being, a story which will give you the creeps.
I could not be more happy that Ra’s Al Ghul was introduced in Absolute Superman. Since the Absolute comics started myself and other fans have been eagerly awaiting any signs of a connection between this titles, a shimmer of hope for an Absolute Justice League – this introduction gives so much more hope for that and demonstrates perfectly how a shared universe could work. Ra’s Al Ghul has such a presence in this Absolute Superman #7 without even being present, the first true villain in the series.
Absolute Superman #7 continues to give us a unique story in a darker world no one could have possibly imagined – the Absolute universes depiction of Brainiac is absolutely terrifying. I don’t just mean the artwork, which absolutely does add to it, but the whole demeaner of this particular Brainiac. There has been very few times that a character in a comic book has made me feel on edge like this and it truly is a powerful thing when that happens.

As I said in the intro, Absolute Superman #7, acts merely as a prologue to the second arc in the series, and what a story it sets up. We know Ra’s Al Ghul has something in store for our hero, but after reading this issue it’s clear to see that is only the small picture here – it could potentially be a gradual build but something big is coming and this unhinged Brainiac is going to be the face of it.
As Absolute Superman continues, I grow more and more fond of Jason Aaron as a writer. Of course, we must praise artist Carmie Di Giandomenico and colourist Ulises Arreola for bringing this comic to life, but the story is the foundation of every comic and this one has just so much potential, potential which shines throughout, not just here and there, but with every single issue that is released of Absolute Superman.
There was not a single thing I could fault with this comic. The tones this issue gives off are so unique to almost every other Superman comic out there, it’s hard not to be sucked in. Once again, I find myself left with no other choice but to rate Absolute Superman #7 a solid 10/10.

Absolute Superman #7 is one of the most unique and incredible Superman comics to date. The focus on Brainiac was a creative choice that pays off so well and is nothing but brilliant. We simply cannot wait for the next issue.
